Moodle programming course

I have been doing an online course Introduction to Moodle Programming a free online course. The course was developed by Humboldt State University in collaboration with San Francisco State University. Having programmed and done Architecture for many years, I have gotten so used to Just-In-Time learning, reading the documentation needed to get a task done and ignoring the background. It is refreshing to have to go to the basics and understand them clearly and demonstrate that understanding. This course discusses Open Source ideology, then goes on to examine how Moodle is written, directory structure, coding guidelines and much much more. How to install it, use it, administer it and to extend it.

It covers much more than just the coding aspect of programming, even discussing documentation and creating requirements documents and testing extensions developed to the requirements.

This course is well worth looking at, I have certainly learnt a lot about the workings of Moodle even though I have been looking at the code for quite a while. I really have to give a big note of appreciation to the developers of this course for the quality and for providing it for free. If anyone prefers a facilitated version of the course is available at  Humboldt State university. This course is currently cancelled but they are accepting entries for a waiting list.
